Kellen Completes Commercial Lending Program

Cornhusker Bank is proud to announce Christopher Kellen has recently earned his diploma from the Commercial Lending School in Manhattan, Kansas.   The Commercial Lending School is sponsored by the Kansas and Nebraska Bankers Associations and in partnership with the Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming Bankers Associations.

The school provides bankers intense instruction in the entire commercial lending process.  Barry Lockard, Cornhusker Bank President/CEO, noted, “Chris is a valuable part of our lending team, and the completion of this program has further developed his skills, allowing him to better serve Cornhusker Bank’s customer’s multiple financial needs.”

Lockard Elected to FHLB of Topeka Board of Directors

Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka has announced newly elected members to their board of directors.  Barry Lockard, President/CEO of Cornhusker Bank, is the Nebraska member representative and will serve a term from January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2022.

FHLBank Topeka is a privately owned, federally chartered corporation which promotes housing and homeownership by providing wholesale products, services and programs that help member financial institutions expand the availability of mortgage credit, compete more effectively in their markets and foster strong and vibrant communities. With approximately $51.8 billion in assets and more than $2.4 billion in capital, FHLBank serves 722 banks, thrifts, credit unions and insurance companies throughout Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. FHLBank is located in Topeka, Kansas.

Congress established the system of home loan banks in 1932 to relieve financial strains on thrift institutions and to promote homeownership.  There are 11 Federal Home Loan Banks located throughout the United States and they are regulated by the Federal Housing Finance Agency in Washington, D.C.

Cornhusker Bank Welcomes Perkins

Cornhusker Bank is pleased to announce the addition of Jay Perkins to its staff as Vice President/Relationship Manager. “Jay’s ability to relate to people will make him an excellent fit with our staff and our concept of developing financial road maps for our customers to help them achieve their goals.  Jay will also be a great representative for the bank in community affairs,” reported Barry Lockard, President/CEO.

Jay has 15 years of banking experience and in addition to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln, he holds a Graduate Certificate from the Colorado Graduate School of Banking in Boulder, Colorado.  Mr. Perkins sits on the board for the Child Advocacy Center in Lincoln and is President of the Lincoln Downtown Athletic Club.  Jay noted, “My personal passion for working with teams and building strong relationships with clients fits perfectly with Cornhusker Bank’s culture and commitment to helping both our clients and our associates reach their goals.”
